Lets continue my America stories. This happened in November last year. I spent my weekend at my American friend's house, Alex. Alex is a very very very very nice person. They call him Jesus. Plus, he also got Jesus's look.
Aku actually masa tu dah lama sangat tak keluar dari Milledgeville tu, so bila Takafumi ajak aku join pergi rumah Alex nie, aku pon tanpa fikir dua tiga kali, aku terus setuju. Finally somebody took me out from Milledgeville after a long time terperuk dekat situ.
Forgot to mention, I went there with my Japanese friends. Takafumi, Eri and Shiori.
This is his house
Aku pergi sana Jumaat malam, 14 November 2014. It was about 20 minutes journey from our campus to Alex's house. Sampai-sampai je, terus dihidangkan makanan. Before I came here, Alex did ask me about what food i can eat and what food i can't eat. That is very thoughtful of him. I feel so touched bila kawan-kawan aku kat sana bertanya soal makan minum aku. That means dorang hormat dan ambik berat dengan pegangan kita.
Her mother bought me a box of shrimps cicah sambal.
Besau-besau udang dia tau. Meriah =)
Aku malas nak keluar berhujung minggu dekat rumah kawan antara sebabnya benda ini lah. Bab makanan.
Lagi satu aku perasan orang sana, dorang suka bake kek, roti, cookies and apa-apa lah jenis pastri. Memang sedap-sedap hasilnya. Even butter pon dorang buat sendiri tau.
Look ! I told ya. This was our breakfast for the next day. I wish i had that muffin again. It tasted very delicious !! Kat rumah pon siap buat waffle sendiri. Rajin benar suri rumah dekat negara omputih nie prepare semua benda nie untuk sarapan.
Forgot to mention, the night we arrived there, the temperature was so low. So it was cold. Sangat-sangat sejuk. Sakit tangan dengan pipi ku. Tak tahan. Kulit kampung. At his parents house, they have this one bangsal where there is chimney so korang boleh lah memanaskan badan dekat situ.
That night also, Alex's father shared his story and experience in army. He still keep all his things during his high school and in army, keratan akhbar, including the hat that Takafumi wore.
Kitorang tak berniat untuk tinggal lama di sana, the next morning after had that delicious breakfast, we went to Athens. It was about one and half hours journey from his house. We went to his brother's house, Nick.
Alex gave Eri a test drive his car. Eri's first experience drove in the US
Nick is a carpenter. His works are displayed at this one gallery where we stopped by somewhere in Georgia. I can't remember the name of the place. Is it already in Athens that time, i don't know. But what can i say, his art works are amazing.
There are a lot of art works done by many artists are displayed here. Not just displayed tau, korang boleh beli. But it's quite pricey. Art work kan, so it's normal lah kalau mahal.
In our way back from this place to go to Nick's house, Alex stopped us at a cotton field. Kebetulan lalu situ so dia nak tunjuk lah cotton field nie dekat kitorang. Actually aku dah pernah nampak dah cotton field sebelum nie masa aku pergi rumah someone kat sana. But she did not stop her car, she just showed me.
With Alex, i got the chance touching the cotton.
In Malaysia, we do have cotton trees. But our cotton trees are very scary and creepy. The tress are tall and old people always told the kids that every cotton trees got hantu jembalang lives in there. That is why kids are very scared of cotton trees.
In America, the tress are very cute in size. At that time we went there, they already harvested the cotton, so we just had the saki baki jelah. But it was nice experience though. We can't stay there longer since there were two or three dogs barking unstoppable. Aiyoo, It was quite scary for me coz i scared of dogs.
We arrived at Nick's house shortly. It located near to Athens downtown. His house is like a tree house. It's pretty small but it completes with everything. The house got one bathroom and toilet, a kitchen that attached with the bedroom, got a place to sit and watch tv. It is a very nice house and it suits for a single person to live there. I love it !
Eri and Taka tried holding the gun. It was heavy kot
Surprisingly, Nick has a lot of guns in his house. One thing you need to know, America allowed it citizens to own a gun without have to have any specific license or something. They can own gun as long as the person do not have any criminal records. Aiyooo, in Walmart they even got sales for gun. Pistol murah pistol murah, harga mampu milik. Macam mana tu ?
It was a culture shock moment for all the international students when we knew about this. We did discuss about this gun things during orientation. So after that, we are kind a adapting with the gun sales in Walmart or anywhere.
In the afternoon, we walked to the downtown and explored Athens. It is such a nice place. Very maju and boleh dikatakan sesak lah. Kat Athens nie ada satu university besar, iaitu University of Georgia (UGA). Every saturday night, they have this football games at the stadium. So Athens downtown will turns into a very crazy town. I will explained more about this.
If i say football, it means rugby tau, bukan bola sepak. Bola sepak dekat America they call soccer. So football is rugby. Football in America is very famous. They are crazy for it. Very fanatic. And UGA's mascot for their football team is a bull dog. So there are so many dog replica in Athens. For example like the picture above and below.
At first we searched a place to eat. We were very starving at that time.
Tips for Muslim, if you cannot find a place for halal food, go for Indian restaurant. They do served halal food. Usually their lamb and meat are halal. But not the chicken. In certain places only you can find halal chicken. But it is more than enough what, as long as i can eat something meaty, it is fine for me.
I forgot the name of my dish. It's lamb something.
Very delicious !! Comes with rice and nan bread
They all shared, the restaurant has this package for two people. It is quite cheap lah if you take the package. But since we consisted of 5 people, so i don't have partner to share the package with. Aku pon order asing. In the package, it included with appetizer and two main course. So it was only me order main course without the appetizer.
And guess what happened ? The waitress gave me free appetizer. Mulanya aku cakap saya tak order benda nie, then dia cakap since semua orang ada appetizer, so dia tak nak aku sorang tak ada appetizer. So dia bagi aku satu appetizer. Ya Allah, I almost cried that time. I felt so grateful that God sent me good people when i was in America. Rezeki aku masa tu. Ya Allah tak tahu nak berterima kasih macam mana. Syukur sangat. Alhamdulillah.
And i forgot the name of the restaurant. Goshhhh ! I also forgot to take picture the signboard of the restaurant.
UGA is a very big university compared to ours. At this time, the place started to crowd. We got the chance explored UGA, see the faculties, the buildings, the stadium and went to the university's souvenir shop. It was crowded.
To enter the stadium, you need to have the ticket. We didn't buy the ticket, it sold out very fast. Lagipun, tak nak aku tengok game sejuk-sejuk macam tu. Baik tidur dalam bilik. Tiket dia dah lah mahal. Memang tak larr.
After toured Athens that evening, we went back to Nick's house. And suddenly Alex got sick that night. Very sick. Poor him. We only watch the game on tv at Nick's neighbour house.
After the game finished, Nick decided to take us to the downtown to see the crazy of Athens on game night. It was very crazy. Drunk people are everywhere. Sesak habis weyh. Bau tak payah cakap lah, memang semua bau alcohol. Masa nie semua tengah celebrate, maklumlah menang.
Nak minum coffee pon penuh cabaran tau malam tu. Kena tukar berapa kedai, end up tak dapat pon minum coffee. Terus patah balik jalan kaki balik rumah. Walaupon dekat, tapi tak dekat jugak lah. Ada lah dalam 20 minit berjalan kaki. Dah lah sejuk gila. Perghhh.
Then malam tu, tak leh nak cerita kat sini. Kesimpulannya kami tidur.
The next morning, Alex's condition is still like that. He was still sick. Nick called his parents to pick us and Alex up. Before heading home, we stopped by at a horse barn. Alex's parents got a horse name Volcan. The horse is taking care by the people who works there.
Volcan is a very beautiful horse and very tamed too =)
We also got the chance to feed the horse with carrots. It was an awesome experience. Can see the video of me feeding the horse. Remember ! Don't judge.
I know you're laughing. Fine.
Alex's father drove us back to Milledgeville that evening. A well spent weekend with Alex's family. They are very nice people. Thank you for having me, thank you coz took me out from Milledgeville that weekend. God bless your kindness.
That was it, my weekend story in Athens. Banyaklah cerita dekat Athens nie aku terpaksa tapis. Nak lebih details jumpa lah saya personally. Kbai. See you on next post with more of my America stories. See ya !
